We love learning new things and exploring new places. As they say, “the world is your oyster” and there are so many amazing sites to see. There are always new opportunities to be inspired. We take a lot of inspiration from our travels and incorporate it into the designs of our rugs.

Here is a list of five places that have been named some of the best places to travel to in 2016 according to Travel and Leisure.

Tanzania

Your trip to Tanzania used to mean going on a safari trip and staying in a camp. This will no longer be the case for those of you who want to have a little more of a luxurious stay. This year “Asilia will open the first truly luxurious lodge in Ruaha National Park, a seldom-visited area teeming with wildlife like elephants, leopards, and lions.” (Broughton) There are two options for your stay that include a set of seven glass-fronted tents, as well as a set of eight eco-friendly tents. Both of these will feature views of the Serengeti.

Canggu, Bali

Looking for a more relaxed and leisurely trip? This beautiful island is full of eclectic restaurants, hotels and hot spots for the relaxed crowd. Travel and Leisure has pointed out that Friji Bali Echo Beach is the “It” spot right now with is simplistic rooms that are enhanced with cultural Balinese decor. There are fun features like water yoga, stand-up paddle boarding as well as two pools. They have a multitude of restaurants that are sure to please your inner foodie. They recommend going in May or October during the two major surf competitions for the most amount of action.

Iran

This beautiful country is home to 19 UNESCO World Heritage sites and is saturated with a rich history that goes back to 1000 BC. “travellers are rediscovering the vibrant, surprisingly cosmopolitan capital of Tehran; the gorgeous architecture and Great Bazaar of Esfahan; the mosques of Kashan, the retreat of Safavid kings; and the extraordinary gardens of Shiraz.” (Rocha) Currently the tourist visa is in flux, so the best way to visit this amazing destination is through a tour operator like G Adventures.

Guadalajara, Mexico

Culture, culture and more culture! This city is infused with creativity and is a hub for those who enjoy to be mesmerized. There is a fabulous jazz scene, the Guadalajara International Book Fair, their film festival and many more visual arts exhibitions. An amazing hotel that exhibits the city’s passion for the arts is Grupo Habita’s Casa Fayette, “an Art Deco mansion transformed by fashionable design firm Dimore Studio.” (Spechler) It features fantastic views and is a hotel you will never forget.

Bocas del Toro, Panama

“The Isthmus of Panama is home to some of the purest natural beauty in Latin America: dense tropical rain forests, wide savannas, coral reefs bursting with aquatic life, and delightfully deserted beaches.” (Singer) Bocas del Toro is composed of nine islands and has beautiful views. There is a juxtaposition between rugged and charming, from the bright colours to the tin-roofed houses in the main village. New hotels will provide a luxurious charm to this eclectic village.
